Obituary of J.C. Jones

James (J.C.) Jones Surgoinsville - J.C. Jones, 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith and accepted Jesus as his savior on Dec. 30, 2013. He lived his whole life in Hawkins County, where he farmed and owned Jones Construction Company. He was a loving husband, daddy and papaw. He enjoyed being with his family and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will live in our hearts forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary (Sivert) Jones. He is survived by his loving wife, Katie (Cupp) Jones of almost 63 years; daughters, Marie (Randy) Rich, Mary Ann (Doyle) Winegar, Betty (David) Brown, all of Surgoinsville; sons, Jimmy Jones of Louisiana, Bill (Joann) Jones, Roscoe (Sara) Jones all of Surgoinsville; grandchildren, Natascha (Marty) Greene, Michele (Jason) Lark, Amanda (Phillip) McKaughan, Daniel (Amanda) Winegar, Nathan Jones, Kayla (Chris) Swift, Cory Jones, Dylan Jones, Aaron Brown; great grandchildren, Erica Lee, Callie Greene, Beth Jones, Hunter McKaughan, Conner Dooley, Garrett McKaughan, Colt Lark and Lauren Lark; his little buddy, "Tiny"; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Highway 11W, Church Hill or anytime at the residence, 395 Cross Valley Road, Surgoinsville. Funeral Services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. George Winegar and Rev. Ulias Brown officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday May 23 at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are Joe Greer, Danny Greer, Dwayne Johnson, Mark Hayes, Mike Johnson, Mike Rhoton and Todd Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter McKaughan, Conner Dooley and Garrett McKaughan. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at funeral home at 10:15 to go in procession. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Manole, Dr. Ahmad, Dr. Butler, Dr. Turner, Church Hill rehabilitation caregivers, Fresenius Dialysis Center, Church Hill EMS, Wellmont Hospice Team, Losha and Ella for their wonderful loving care they gave our daddy during his illness.
