Obituary of Thomas Eugene Derrick

Thomas Eugene Derrick, age 61 of Rogersville passed away Friday afternoon, April 18, 2014 at his home. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and was the owner-operator of Derricks Construction. He enjoyed fishing, riding horses and gardening. He along with his wife loved being foster parents. Thomas recently remarked his most special blessing from God was his wife, kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Derrick and Hester Derrick Gibson; brother, William Robert Derrick and sister, Nannie Derrick Dean. Survivors include his wife, Roma (Tina) McCloud Derrick, four sons, Thomas Scott Derrick and wife, LaToshia of Church Hill; Robert Carter Jarrett, III and wife, Angela of Kingsport; Timothy Bruce Jarrett and wife, Kristie of Greeneville; Steven Ray Jarrett of Kingsport. Ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Dora Estep and husband, Johnny of Gate City, VA; Mary Vaughn and Dorothy Walters, both of Kingsport; brother, Elijah Derrick of Kingsport. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill with funeral services to follow at 7 pm with his son, Rev. Tim Jarrett officiating, music will be by the family. Military graveside services will be held at 11 am Monday, April 21, 2014 at Old Kingsport Church Cemetery conducted by the American Legion Post #3 & #265. His four sons will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 am Monday to go in procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Derrick family.
