Obituary of Cledith Mavis McMurray

Cledith Mavis (Bright ) McMurray, 86, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 13, 2014 at her residence after a short illness. She was born in Hiltons, Virginia, but spent most of life in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; Verlin and Janice Bright; brother; David Bright. She is survived by her husband of 67 years; Patten McMurray; three sons; Hugh McMurray and wife, Sandy of Bristol, Jack McMurray and wife, Denyse of Fall Branch, Mark McMurray and wife, Diane of Kingsport; seven grandchildren, Julie and Hughie, Amy, Jason, Leslie and Dustin, Amanda and Ashley; twelve great-grandchildren, Morgan and Emily, Sydney, Olivia, Natalie, Loren, Addie, Zain and Lyla; Garrett, Conner and Lexie; three sisters, Ruth Bright, Inez Anderson and Mary Ann Starnes; sister-in-law, Cleo Hensley, wife of Arthur Hensley; brothers-in-law; Fred McMurray and Cliff Starnes. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 150 New Beason Well Road, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7pm with Pastor Robert Fletcher and Pastor J. W. Depew officiating. Music will be provided by The Perry Voices. Mrs. McMurray will be laid to rest 1 pm Thursday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will meet by 12 noon at the funeral home to go in procession. Pallbearers are Jason McMurray, Hugh McMurray, II, Jeremy Pitts, Jessie Bishop, Jonathan Acker, Dustin Jackson, Scott Thompson, Wes Hardin. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown chapel is serving the family of Cledith M. McMurray.
