Obituary of Fern Keith Light

FERN KEITH LIGHT Gate City- Fern Keith Light, 82, of the Midway Community (Scott County) went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday (April 11, 2014) at Nova Health Care and Rehab Center. She was a lifelong resident of the Midway Community. She retired from Holston Defense and was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. Fern was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, M. D. and Verda Keith; a granddaughter, Amy Jennings; her brother, James Keith. Fern Keith Light is survived by her children, Gary Jennings, Danny Jennings and wife, Karen, Tammy Thompson and husband, Mark (all of Gate City); four grandchildren, Stacy Keller and husband, Regan, Kayla Templeton and husband, Adam, Jakob Thompson, Sarah Thompson; two great grandchildren, Addison Keller and Carleigh Templeton; several brothers and sisters along with many nieces and nephews. A special thank-you goes out to Brenda Salling and the staff at Nova Health Care and Rehab Center for the special care given to Fern during her illness. Calling hours will be held on Sunday (April 13, 2014) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home. Friends may also call anytime at the residence of her daughter Tammy Thompson. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday (April 13, 2014) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brad Stapleton and Rev. Don Hanshew, officiating. Music will be provided by Kari White. A graveside service will be held on Monday (April 14, 2014) at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery with Jakob Thompson, Regan Keller, Adam Templeton, Kendal Keith, Mike Keith, and Eddie Dillow serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Keith, James Easterling, Dwight McConnell, Harry Lee McConnell, Terry Jennings, Paul Jennings, Adam Keith, and Billy Keith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midway United Methodist Church Memorials, 696 McClellan Town Lane, Gate City, VA 24251.
