Obituary of Sue Kilgore

Gate City - Sue Stallard Kilgore, 87 whom God sent an angel to bring home to rest on April 9, 2014, was a loving mother and wife. She had a wonderful love of music and enjoyed singing in the choir and with various quartets in the Scott County area. Sue set the music to a song, "In the Valley of Decision" which her husband, Cary wrote. Sue was a member of Sally's Chapel Baptist Church in Weber City, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cary R. Stallard and daughter Kathy D. Ervin. She is survived by her husband, Carl Kilgore; son, Randall Stallard and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Joshua Stallard, Stephanie Stallard, Chad Ervin and Stacy Ervin and wife Ginny; great-granddaughter, Lexi Ervin; son-in-law, Huey Ervin and wife Tammy. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor George Winegar and Pastor Rick Cryder officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Rick Cryder officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be Stacy Ervin, Huey Ervin, Josh Stallard, Rick Cryder, Jerry Addington and Dale Smith.
