Obituary of Bill Jones

Billy Jones, 74, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord unexpectedly (Monday, March 17, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born is Scott County, he has lived in East Tennessee all of his life. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company following several years of service. He was presently working at NAPA auto parts in Weber City. Billy loved the lake, to fish and work at his second house on Douglas Lake. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lillian Jones; one sister, Cynthia Jones and father in law, Jack Orfield. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Jones; son, Rick Jones; brother, Donnie E. Jones and wife Janice, Gate City; sisters, Carolyn Jones and husband Jim, Marion, VA, Charlotte Kilgore and husband Jim, Kingsport; mother in law, Margie Orfield, who loved him dearly; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Randy, Phyllis and Kari Compton, Linda and Johnny Pendleton, Jackie and Sherry Page and a host of many friends too numerous to mention. The family will receive friends from 4 till 7pm Thursday (March 20, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Larry Spivey officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites presented by the American Legion Post 3/265. Pallbearers will be Randy Compton, Randy Rhymer, Tyler, James, Alex and Jimmy Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Jones, Sr., Johnny Pendleton, Jim Kilgore and the NAPA boys. Those desiring may make donations in memory of Bill to the charity of one's choice.
