Obituary of Bessie Irene Goodwin

Kingsport - Bessie Irene Flanary Goodwin, 90 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Scott County, VA, Irene had lived in Kingsport for most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Goodwin, Jr.; parents, Huey and Ethel Eads Flanary; sister, Marie Williams and a brother, Donald Flanary. Irene is survived by her daughter, Deborah Edwards of the home; son, Thomas "Tommy" Goodwin and wife Pat of Church Hill; granddaughters, Kristie Thomas and husband Jim and Amy Campbell and husband Terry; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA with Pastor Richard Dice officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Goodwin family.
