Obituary of Leonard Brookman
Church Hill - Leonard Early Brookman, 68 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Bristol Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Pulaski, VA, Leonard had lived several years in Kingsport before moving to Church Hill. He was retired from Eastman Company following 35 years of service, where he worked as a machinist. Leonard enjoyed UT Football, NASCAR and was former president of Eastman Motorsports. He was a very loving, kind and compassionate person and enjoyed helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rebecca Pugh Brookman; sisters, Nora Grindstaff and Cynthia Bowman; brother, Ronald Brookman.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 30 years, Diana J. Brookman; son, Richard Brookman and wife Amy Smith Brookman; daughters, Melinda Brookman and Rosie Chamberlin; six grandchildren, Casey, Emily, Aaron, Logan, Ariel and Sawyer; sisters, Barbara Dykes, Trisha Smith, and Linda Bushong; brother, Ernest Brookman; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill.
A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m.in the funeral home chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at Oak Hill memorial Park. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
