Obituary of Stevie Allen Bowlin

Stevie Allen (Pappy) Bowlin, 76, of Church Hill passed away late Tuesday night (February 4, 2014) at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Harlan County, KY and had resided the majority of his life in Church Hill. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Bowlin retired from Claude Cain Construction. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Mount Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Houston and Anna Faddis Bowlin; his siblings, Dorothy (Bobbi) Wilder, Oscar Kyle Bowlin, Ernest (Curly) Bowlin, Claude Bowlin, John Thomas Bowlin, Louise Johnson, Robert Escoe Bowlin, Glenn Ray Bowlin, Kerman Harold Bowlin, and James Washington Bowlin. Stevie Allen Bowlin is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Grayce Mitchell Bowlin; his sons, James Allen Bowlin, Steven Ray Bowlin and Lori Hall, Christopher Brian Bowlin; grandchildren, Dustin (Cowboy) Robert Bowlin and Heather (Pumpkin) Renee Bowlin; step-grandchildren, Chelsey Merriam, Keith Hart, and Austin Hart; a special sister-in-law, Ethel Bowlin; mother of his grandchildren, Deborah Renee Bowlin along with a host of nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday (February 6, 2014) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday (February 6, 2014) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Frank Gilliam and Brother Glen Williams, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday (February 7, 2014) at 10 a.m. at Mount Mitchell Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. A special thank-you goes out to his niece, Linda Sue (Cissie) Norris who was by his side, Dr. May, Dr. Greenfield, Dr. El Minaoui, Dr. Nakhoul, the ICU/CCU staff at Wellont Holston Valley Medical Center, Comfort Care at Indian Path Medical Center for the special care given to Mr. Bowlin during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Bowlin family.
