Obituary of James Edward Reed
James E. (Jim) Reed, of Kingsport, joined Jesus in Heaven on Friday, January 24, 2014 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN.
Born on July 5, 1944 in Ohio, he dedicated his life to others, serving through the Red Cross, Bloomindale Volunteer Fire Dept., Contact Concern, Meals on Wheels, Nursing Homes, Habitat for Humanity, church, caring for special needs children, MS, MD, March of Dimes, etc., to name a few. He was a machinist by trade and had a custom woodworking business.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Winnie Reed; daughters, June Klietz, Darlene Pokey, Rita Muller, Melissa Reed and Jessie Moore; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; 5 brothers; 3 sisters and several nieces and nephews.
The family will host a visitation from 4 - 6 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 725 Truxton Drive, Kingsport. Funeral Services will follow at 6 pm in the church with Pastor Paul Becker, officiating
Military graveside services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN conducted by VFW Boone Dam Post 4933. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:45 am to go in procession.
In keeping with his desire to help others, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church, 725 Truxton Drive, Kingsport, 37660, or to the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Dept., 3017 N. John B. Dennis Hwy, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the family.
