Obituary of Gladys Morrison Reed

Gladys Morrison Reed, 85, of Gate City, VA after a lengthy illness went to be with Jesus on January 7, 2014. The eldest daughter of Jack and Nora Davis Morrison. She grew up in Sullivan County, TN until she met her husband and moved to Gate City, VA for the last 63 years. She was a precious wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to everyone she met. She retired from the Dollar General Corporation where she was a store manager for 20 years. Gladys was a former member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing Bridge and golf with her girlfriends whenever she could. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy and Ralph Morrison. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond W. Reed, Gate City; two sons, Tony and wife Kathy Thornberry-Reed, Kpt and Tim and wife Penny Shelton-Reed, Knoxville, TN; two grandsons, Jason and wife Joey Amore-Reed, Knoxville, Jonathan and wife Amanda Henry-Reed, Kpt; granddaughter, Keeley Shultz and husband Steven, Sevierville; three great granddaughters, Hailey, Austin and Scarlett; two great grandsons, Rylan and Colt; one sister, Judy Conkin and husband Dana, special friend, Kendall Cleek and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Friday (January 10, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral will follow at 7pm with Rick Begley officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Saturday (January 11, 2014) at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steve France, Rick Begley, Terry Frazier, Kendall Cleek, Jeff Frazier and Seth Frazier. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles "Jiggs" Willis, H.K. Templeton, Bernie Ervin, Wally Pat Ford, Paul Whited, Kenny Patton, Paul Asque and Byrd Blackburn The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare in Knoxville for their great care of Gladys the last few months.
