Obituary of Stuart Douglas Dickenson
Kingsport - Stuart D. Dickenson, 69, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday evening (December 24, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a short illness.
Mr. Dickenson was born in the Fordtown Community and had lived in Kingsport all his life. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Viet Nam War. He retired from Sullivan County and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mr. Dickenson had a love for antique cars and enjoyed collecting model antique cars.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dylan Dickenson; parents, Charlie and Maude Riggs Dickenson; two infant sisters; four brothers, Lydle Dickenson, Perry Dickenson, Okie Dickenson and Stanley Dickenson.
Surviving by his loving wife and companion of 46 years, Bobbie Jean Sage Dickenson of the home; two sons, Stephen Douglas "Doug" Dickenson of Kingsport and Chad Edward Dickenson of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren, Ashleigh Dickenson, Mitchell Dickenson, Jillian Dickenson, Chloe Dickenson and Logan Dickenson; sisters, Carol Starnes and husband, Buford, Phyllis Salling and Kay Street all of Kingsport and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive from 1 - 3 pm Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Carter-Trent, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport.
A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Cecil Sturgill and a Eulogy by Joe Robinette.
Military graveside rites will be conducted at 11:30 am Monday, December 30, 2013 at the VA Cemetery, Mountain Home by the American Legion Post 3/265. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
