Obituary of Joann Carter

Joann Hammonds Carter of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning, December 14, 2013 at her residence after a long illness. She was born in Kingsport and had lived here all her life. Mrs. Carter was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Leslie Carter; parents,Charles and Anna Lee Hammonds; sisters, Pauline Hammonds and Christine Hammonds and a brother, Ricky Hammonds. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Makayla and the Welllmont Hospice nurses. Surviving are her loving husband of forty six years, David P. Carter of the home; daughter, Tammy Britt and husband, Brandon of Kingsport; sons, David Michael Carter of Kingsport and David Shannon Carter and wife, Tammy of Lumberton, N.C.; grandchildren, Chris Carter, Tiffany Carter, Logan Britt, Evan Britt, Kayla Britt, Allie Meade, Bella Meade, Caspian Meade, Austin Noel and a great granddaughter, Aliyah Elizabeth Carter; sisters, Sharon Hammonds and fiance', Mike Fields of Kingsport and Janet Woods of Nashville, TN; a very special nephew, Jonathan MacMurray; several nieces and nephews and furry friends, "Chloe" and "Princess" The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport. A funeral service will held at 11 am Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. LeRoy Davis officiating. A graveside service will follow at East lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Fields, Jonathan MacMurray, Chris Carter, Brandon Carter, Kevin Carter, Frank Amyx and Ronnie Carter. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown Kingsport is serving the Joann Carter family.
