Obituary of Ruby Jean Pierson

Ruby Jean Pierson, 77 of Weber City, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on August 26, 1936 in Ft Blackmore, Virginia and was a lifelong resident of Scott County. Jean was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Chapel Church in Ft Blackmore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Nannie Davidson Pierson; son, Wayne Pierson; sisters, Georgia Faye Beard, June Pierson Gray and Freida Pierson; brother, Paul Pierson; niece, Teresa Pierson. Ruby is survived by her nieces, Debbie Pierson Blessing and husband C. J., Loretta Light Lane and husband Greg; nephews, Jackie Beard and wife Robin, Freddie Beard and wife Dottie, Larry Beard, Glen Pierson and wife Claudine; great nieces, Amanda Banks and husband Josh and children Haley, Colton, Caden and Elianna, Courtney Beard, Cassie Lane and daughter Maddie, Whitney Hammitt, Candy, Sabrina, Aimee and Marlana Pierson; great nephews, Sammy Blessing, Joey Blessing, Zack Beard and Jonathan Pierson. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Simpson and Pastor Joshua Banks officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Pierson Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be Sammy Blessing, Joey Blessing, Brent Sturm, Gerald Tate, Gene Lyons and Rodney Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Karen Young and Dawn Strickler. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wesley Eastridge and Dr. Robert Saunders and their staffs, Amedisys of Kingsport and Duffield, Caris Hospice and nurse Bonnie Clevenger, special caregivers, Debbie Robin and Jackie, Karen Young and Respicare Home Aides, the loving staff of Weber City Drug, Teal Winegar and the Weber City Police Department Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Pierson Family.
