Obituary of Fred Clyne Nuckles

Fred C. Nuckles, 72, of Kingsport, passed away Friday October 18, 2013 at Holston Manor Nursing Home. A native of Scott County, he has lived in Kingsport since 1963. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from CSX Railroad as a conductor following 27 years of service. Fred was an associate member of St. Paul's UMC in Piney Flats. He was also a member of the Monacan Indian Nation of Amherst County, Virginia. Even though Fred and Faye never had any children, Fred was a mentor to all of the neighborhood children. He provided guidance, support and lots of love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Stafford "Staff" Nuckles and Audrey Helen Morris Nuckles. Fred is survived by his wife, Faye Fugate Nuckles, of the home; sister, Jean Deel and husband Scottie, Kingsport; brother, Billy Joe Nuckles and wife Nancy Faye; several nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be conducted at 2pm Sunday at Scott County Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. It was Fred's request to be cremated. He will be laid to rest in the family cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monacan Indian Nation 114 Indian Mission Rd. Amherst, VA 24521 or to the charity of one's choice.
