Obituary of Ed Douglas

Edward Jessie "Ed" Douglas - 89, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol. Ed was born in Sullivan County, TN and had lived here most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 and had retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986. Ed was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Nina Wilkerson Douglas in Aug 2013; his parents, Thomas Jessie Douglas and Inez Grace Mitchell; three brothers, Haskel Douglas, Ernest Douglas and Clayton Douglas; three sisters, Edith Darnell, Mildred Armstrong and Katherine Douglas. Survivors include his son, Allan Douglas of Kingsport; three daughters, Gail Pope & husband Kyle of Bristol, TN, Brenda Dyer & husband David of Knoxville, TN, Karen May & husband Mark of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren, Toby Douglas, Kyle Pope, II, Preston May; two sisters, Geneva Bullis of Kingsport and Gladys Collins of Cleveland, OH; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 1:00 pm Monday, October 7, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church, 2200 Memorial Court, Kingsport. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm in the church with Pastor Brian Schuler, officiating. Military graveside service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport conducted by American Legion Post #3 & Post #265. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
