Obituary of Joe E. Davis

Kingsport - Joe E. Davis, 70, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Scott County, VA and had lived in Kingsport most of his life. Mr. Davis was owner/operator of Joe's Marathon Service Station. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Starnes Davis. Surviving are his sons, Ted Davis and wife, Donna of Kingsport and Todd Davis and wife Kerrie of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Joey Davis, Dylan Davis and Riley Davis; sisters, Margaret Moffitt, Emma Lou Lynn and Marie Sword all of Kingsport; half-brother, Roy Davis Kingsport; half-sister, Judy Higgins of Kingsport; several step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 27, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating. A graveside service will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
