Obituary of Jean Carden

Jean "Nanny" Carden, 84 of Kingsport passed away early Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Morgantown, WVA and had resided in Kingsport for the past 16 years. She retired from Olan Mills after many years of service as a Southeast Regional Manager. Nanny had devoted her life to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Carden; her parents, Mabel & Hood DeVault; brothers, Junior DeVault, Robert DeVault, Richard DeVault; sisters, Bonnie Jean DeVault and Oleta Davidson. Survivors include her daughter, Becky Williams & husband Dave; granddaughters, Tammy Walser & husband Robert, Kristi Jeffers & husband Scott; grandson, Shaun Lovell & wife Kelli; beloved great grandchildren, Brad Jeffers, Adam Jeffers, Alex Jeffers, Dylan Walser and Kinley Walser; along with several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport with Pastor Mike Pelham, officiating. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown Kingsport is serving the family of Willa Jean DeVault Carden.
