Obituary of Charlotte Price Hammonds

Charlotte Sue Price Hammonds, 73, of Kingsport was carried away by heavenly angels to meet the Lord following a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Hawkins County and resided in Kingsport the majority of her life. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother and especially grandmother. She truly fulfilled the role of being "mamaw". She was a very strong and spiritual woman whose faith sustained for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Price; mother, Lillian Cope Price Courtney. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Charles Hammonds, who was the love of her life; son, Anthony Hammonds and wife Sandy of Kingsport; three special grandchildren, Cody, Ryan and Audrey; brother, Henry Price and wife, Joyce of Rogersville; sister, Faye Helton and husband Larry of Rogersville; aunt, Pauline Cope of Kingsport; her best friend, Thelma Jones of Rogersville; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport or anytime at the residence of the son, Anthony Hammonds, Kingsport. A service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnathan Lovelace, Rev. Mike Vicars and Rev. Joe Hill officiating. Music will be provided by Sister Sherry Christian and Brother Ben Christian. A graveside service will be provided at 11 am on Thursday September 19, 2013 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Randy Price, Perry Robinette, Dean Gray, Steve Hammonds, Gerald Darnell and Raymond Carter. The family would like send a special thank you to The Promise Apostolic Church; and a very grateful thank you to Joyce and Henry Price; Amedisys Hospice nurses, Kris, Kim and Allison; and her personal caregivers during her illness.
