Obituary of Ronald Mitchell Thacker

Kingsport - Ronald Mitchell Thacker, 61 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Kingsport, Ron had lived in Hawkins County for several years before moving back to Kingsport. He worked in the construction business. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Edna Ramey Thacker; brother, Howard Thacker; brother-in-law, Dean Winegar; niece, Glenda Sue Thacker. Ron is survived by his wife, Sharon Mullins Thacker of the home; son, Mitchell "Tim" Thacker of Mount Carmel; step-son, Dwight Summers of Kingsport; sisters, Barbara Ann Catron of Virginia, Judy Winegar of Surgoinsville and Armenda Wysor of Kingsport; brother, Merlin Thacker of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Thacker Cemetery (Caney Valley Loop). Pallbearers will be family and friends. Willie Thacker will serve as a honorary pallbearer In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carter-Trent Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Thacker family.
