Obituary of Elmer J. Hall

Elmer J. Hall Elmer Jessee Hall (known to those who loved him as E.J.), 88, born March 6, 1925 in Castlewood, VA, entered into eternal rest Saturday August 31, 2013 at Indian Path Hospital. He honorably served his county during World War II fighting with the Army's Timberwolves 104th Infantry Division seeing action in Europe including the, "Battle of the Bulge." Upon returning home he began a 40 year career in the trucking industry which included many years of service as Mason Dixon Tank Lines while being a Teamsters Union Member. E.J. was a 50 year lifetime member honoree of the Masonic Lodge # 688 and a Jericho Shriner. He was an active member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church including volunteer work with the Meals on Wheels program. He was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart of 60 years, Ellen Mildred Lawson; parents, George Sherman and Nannie hall; son in law, Lynn Domby; along with several siblings. E.J is survived by his daughter Glenda Domby, son, Greg Hall and wife, Jan; devoted friend, Opal Shaw of Rogersville; he was a loving grandfather to Bobbie Bellamy, Mark Hall, Lorrie Larkins and Terry Hall; great grandchildren include, Lauren Bellamy, Cloe Hardin, Zeke Larkins, Colt Hall, Zoie Larkins and Lily Hall; surviving siblings are Jeraldine Davidson and husband Edmund of Bristol, TN, Glen Hall and wife, Betty of Georgia; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 pm on Tuesday September 3, 2013, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Douglas Drinnon officiating (nephew of the decease). Military graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff during his stay at Preston Place Suites and Preston Place II. Many thanks for the special loving care given during his illness to the 5th floor nursing staff at Indian Path Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family request donation in memory of Elmer Jessee Hall to the Alzheimer's Research Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or a charity of your choice.
