Obituary of Sharon Lee Hood

Sharon Lee Crabill Hood, 71, Duffield, Va. DUFFIELD, Va. — Sharon Lee Crabill Hood, 71, of Duffield, passed away on Friday (Aug. 30, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Her family was by her side as she departed this earthly life to join her husband, Tommy, on their 56th wedding anniversary. Sharon was born on March 18, 1942 to Austin Lee and Odessia (Scott) Crabill in Daniels, Md. She moved to Scott County, Va. in 1955. She resided in the Fairview community for most of her life. Sharon was outspoken and strong in her beliefs. She was not ashamed of the Gospel and she was wise in the word as she had read the Bible four times. She especially loved studying about Paul. She loved and praised the Lord, and she was the center root of strength and love in her family. Her love and protectiveness knew no bounds. Sharon was an avid and experienced gardener. She could grow anything, and she spent many hours tending to her crops. She had the prettiest, most bountiful garden for miles around. Sharon was a talented artist and homemaker, providing many wonderful creations from the foods she grew. She loved canning goods and preserving fruits to share with family, friends, and neighbors. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and she was extremely well-read. In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Thomas "Tommy" Hood, Sr.; sister, Vivian "Tiny" Korn; brothers, Sonny Crabill and Bob Crabill; and special cousin, Jack Scott. Sharon is survived by her son, Ronnie Hood and wife Traci; daughters, Vicky Pearce and Sheri Edmunds and husband Tony; and "second son" Robin Hood and wife Donna; grandchildren, Brandi Hall, Crystal Buchanan and husband Shanon, Kelli France and husband Derrick, Ashley Kincer and husband Matt, Joshua Pearce, Tanner Hood and Ongie, Sean-Thomas Hood, Gabriel Edmunds, Taylor Edmunds; great-grandchildren, Schuyler, Jayden, Mallori, Coleton, Rhylie, Landrey, Thomas, Chasity; sisters, Hazel Hood, Betty Long, Shirley Shifflett; special nieces, Candi, Cyndi, Christi, Cassi, Cori and families; and special friend, Parker. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Scott County Funeral Home. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Gary Hood officiating. Music will be held by The Hood Family. Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tanner Hood, Tony Edmunds, Shanon Buchanan, Gabriel Edmunds, Sean-Thomas Hood, Derrick France and Matt Kincer. Sharon was surrounded by loved ones the entire duration of her acute illness but the family would like to say a special thank you to her grandson, Tanner, who never left her side.
