Obituary of Jim Davis

Kingsport - Jim Davis, 54, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. For more than 28 years, Jim devoted his life to coaching and mentoring young athletes throughout the Kingsport community. He was an avid hunter and golfer and loved spending time outdoors, especially at his mountain cabin in High Knob, Virginia. His passion for his cars led to a life time building many street rods including his own 1939 Chevrolet. He was a member of NSRA and the North American Hunting Club. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Josh and Wendi Davis and Jacob and McKenzie Davis; mother, Shirley Davis; father and step mother, Norman and Melba Davis; sister and brother in law, Terri and Lowell Carroll; brother and sister in law, Gene and Patty Davis; fiance', Rhonda Wills and her children Anthony, Brittany and Alex; grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Bradyn and Andrew Davis; special friend, Bobby Morgan; the mother of his children, Becky Davis; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and other extended family members. The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday August 16, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street. A service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ron Trent officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynn View Pee Wee Football League, through Regions Bank, "Jim Davis Memorial Fund" 415 Broad St., Kingsport, TN 37660 Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Davis family.
