Obituary of Mamie Elizabeth Tiller

Mamie Elizabeth Tiller, 85 of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Preston Place, following a lengthy illness and surrounded by her loving family. A native of Scott County, VA of the Big Moccasin Community, she lived in Kingsport since 1960. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She was a lady who was deeply rooted in God's love. She worked very hard most of her life but always had her steady ongoing walk of faith and assurance. Her family and others always depended on her quiet strength and support, and her precious sense of humor. She never put herself forward; she just consistently lived out her faith by serving others. She was always there to help her children as she gathered them around the kitchen table to tell them about Jesus and teach them right from wrong. This was a very special time of sharing God's love and lessons they would learn in their daily lives. She was a loving Mother to her children and those around her. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred "Doc" and Hettie Maddux and her twin sister, Gertrude Price. Surviving are her husband, Curtis Tiller; her daughter, Charlotte Tiller; two sons, Charles Tiller & wife Ruth Ann, Michael Tiller & wife Rhonda, all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Aaron Tiller & wife Jeri of Gray, Joshua Tiller & wife Paige of SC, Megan Tiller of Jonesborough; one great granddaughter and two step-great grandsons, a special nephew, Carl Price, Jr. of Nickelsville and special niece, Carolyn Bishop & husband Daniel of Big Stone Gap; a loving sister-in-law, Jeanie Tiller of Kingsport and other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, downtown Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8 pm in the chapel with Rev. Vern Hall of Free Gift Gospel Mission, officiating. Music will be provided by Megan Tiller and Melissa Hall. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:45pm Sunday. Pallbearers will be Mike Tiller, Aaron Tiller, Carl Price Jr, Austin Bays, Jason Sykes and Gary Quillen. Jim Mays is an honorary pallbearer.
