Obituary of Cecil Starns

Cecil Starns, 74, of Church Hill passed away Friday June 28, 2013 following a lengthy illness. A native of Scott County, Virginia, Cecil retired from active military service to his country after 24 years in the United States Army. He proudly served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Ruby Quillin Starns; three sisters and four brothers. Cecil is survived by his wife, Deborah Starns, of the home; four sons, Daniel Starns, Steven Starns, Marvin Starns and Patrick Starns; two brothers, Howard Starnes, Stuarts Draft, VA and Lester Starnes, Livingston, N.J.; aunt, Marie Fluce, Kingsport; and family, friends, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5-7pm Tuesday (July 2, 2013) and 5-7 pm Wednesday (July 3, 2013) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm Wednesday with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:45 pm Friday July 5, 2013 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military graveside rites to be presented by the Hawkins County Color Guard. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the family of Cecil Starns.
