Obituary of Woodrow Wilson Kimbler

Fort Blackmore - Woodrow Wilson Kimbler, Sr., 95 of Fort Blackmore, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 22, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center two days prior to his 96th birthday. He was the last living of seven children born to Worley Lloyd Kimbler and Ida Mae Frye Kimbler. Woodrow was a hardworking farmer and enjoyed hunting, gardening and growing flowers and was very active well into his eighties. He was a very loving and caring husband, daddy and papaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Venus Gillenwater Kimbler; infant son, Woodrow Wilson Kimbler, Jr.; three sisters, Dora Starnes, Gertrude Kimbler and Esther Barnette; three brothers, Ray, Ellis and Clarence Kimbler; son-in-law, William Woodall; daughter, Novella Morelock. Survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Helen Crawford (Mike), Evelyn Conkin (Earl), Emelene Peters (Henry, Jr.), Billie Jean Woodall, Lloyd Kimbler, Johnny Kimbler (Tammy), Harold Kimbler (Jackie), Joann Dingus, Sue Robinson (L. C.); special pets, Cookie, Spider and Tachy; 12 grandchildren, Rhonda Burris (Mike), Vicky Peppers (K. C.), Mark Woodall (Amy), Kartrina Walker (Ron), Clairon Peters (Leigh), Rebekah Tipton (Matthew), Dr. Andrew Conkin, Melissa Courtney (Jim), Jason Kimbler (Terri), Kelvin Kimbler (Rachel), Amanda Hensley (Mike) and Adam Crawford; 14 great-grandchildren, Zachary Burris, Cheyenne and Brooklyn Woodall, Autumn and Alex Murdock, Victoria and Avery Peters, Gabe and Julianne Tipton, Natasha and Holly Caldwell, Madison, Macy and Maddox Hensley; sister-in-law, Faye Miles; brother-in-law, John Henry Gillenwater; sister, Dorothy Wolfe; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren,; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Eddie Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by Rick Osborne. Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
