Obituary of Gertrude Morelock

Gertrude Pearson Morelock, 87, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning (June 19, 2013) at her home. She was born in Hawkins County where she resided the majority of her life. She faithfully attended both Beech Creek Baptist Church and Sullivan Baptist Church when her health permitted. Mrs. Morelock was an avid reader who loved gardening and spending time with her beloved pets. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reeva Morelock; her parents, Carl & Viola Pearson; daughter-in-law, Geanette Morelock; brother-in-law, Dean Morelock and sister-in-law Thelma Osborne. Gertrude Morelock is survived by her daughter, Dr. Judy Morelock of Knoxville, TN; three sons, Charles Morelock and wife, Sally of Kingsport, who were dedicated caregivers for the past 14 months; Allan Morelock of Somerset, NJ, and Denny Morelock and wife, Judy Minnick of Madisonville, TN; grandchildren, Dianna Osickey & husband Peter, Brent Morelock, Melanie Pendergraft & husband Jarrod, Jason Morelock & wife Jamie, Vena Shimalla & husband Pat, Jennifer De La Rosa and Jesse Morelock & wife, Jenny; nine great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister-in-law, Jackie Morelock; nephew, Shannon Morelock and his family. Calling hours will be held on Friday (June 21, 2013) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday (June 21, 2013) at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Strong, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday (June 22, 2013) at 10 a.m. at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens, Blountville, TN. Pallbearers will be her family. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. The family would like to extend their thanks to Mountain States Hospice for the special care given to Gertrude Morelock. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Sullivan Baptist Church, 4152 Maplewood Street, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the Sullivan County Humane Society, P.O.
