Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Campbell

Dorothy (Dot) Moody Campbell, was born on February 6, 1922 and went to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May, 2, 2013 at 11:11pm. Dorothy grew up in Green County near Chuckey. She was an employee of TEC for many years, Kingsport City School cafeteria, finally retiring from McDonalds in 1984. She was a member of St. Matthew's UMC, UM Woman, VFW, American Legion, Woman of the Moose (WOTM) for 57 years. She was very active in her church and WOTM. Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, John Robert Moody; her second husband, Charles Gilmer Campbell; her mother, Florence Showman, her aunt Rhody who raised her; brothers, Bob Showman and Hubert Showman; two sisters, Lucille Jeffers and Kate Bailey; three sisters-in-law, Kitty Showman, Ann Showman, and Ruth Showman; and brother-in-law, Marvin Jeffers. Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth Moody & wife Barbara of Jacksonville, NC and Terry Moody of Kingsport; daughter, Karen Gatewood of Kingsport; step-daughter, Joy Campbell Brown of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Kenneth Robert, Wesley Ray and Jennifer Elaine Moody all of NC; five step-grandchildren; along with several step great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the chapel with Rev. Ray Amos Jr., officiating. There will be a Moose Service following conducted by the women of her Lodge. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Emory UMC Cemetery, Kingsport. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm. Honorary pallbearers will be family and relatives The family wants to thank all of the people at Amedysis Hospice and Emeritus of Kingsport Assisted Living.
