Obituary of Elmer Lawson

Elmer Lawson, 87, of Church Hill went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning (May 1, 2013) at Indian Path Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. Mr. Lawson was of the Baptist faith. Elmer retired from Tennessee Eastman with over 25 years of service. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Elmer was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Lawson; parents, Nathaniel (Greenberry) and Sarah Lawson; a sister, Kate Burton; brothers, Chester Lawson, Garnie Lawson, Fred Lawson, Creed Lawson, Kermit Lawson and Haskell Lawson. Elmer Lawson is survived by his loving wife, Mae Caldwell Lawson; his two daughters, Patsy (E.C.) Christian, Jr. (Surgoinsville, TN), Lesa (Dale) Malone (Church Hill, TN); three sons, Jerry (Anna) Lawson (Surgoinsville, TN) Mike (Barbara) Lawson (Church Hill, TN) and Danny (Debbie) Lawson (Church Hill, TN); his special grandson and caregiver, Brandon Michael Lawson, along with 11 additional grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 additional great grandchildren on the way; his sister, Rhea Davidson (Rogersville, TN); a special brother-in-law, Joe Marsh; a special friend and neighbor, Maxine Hurd along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday (May 3, 2013) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday (May 3, 2013) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Spears and Pastor Jessee Hartgrove officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday (May 4, 2013) at 2 p.m. at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens with his family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Lawson family.
