Obituary of Winfred Keith

Winfred J. Keith, 78, of Kingsport, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ late Friday evening, April 26, 2013 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Welch, West Virginia, grew up in Hillsville, Virginia before attending Emory and Henry College where he met the love and dance partner of his life, Barbara Moneyhun Keith. Winfred moved to Kingsport shortly after his marriage to Barbara in 1956. He retired from Eastman Chemical in 1999 as a Manufacturing Technologist after 39 years of service. Mr. Keith was a 43 year member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, teller and most notably, for making sure that everyone who entered the Lord's House was greeted with a bulletin, a hug and a smile. He will be most remembered for the light of his Savior which shone through him to everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Easter Stockner Keith. Surviving are his lovely wife of 56 years, Barbara Moneyhun Keith of the home; son, Joey Keith and wife, Patti of Kingsport; daughter, Patricia Wall and husband, Kevin of Richmond Hill, Georgia; as well as those blessed enough to call him "Grandpa" which include his granddaughters, Hannah Jessee and husband, Matt, Chelsea Keith, Leslie Wall and Michelle Wall; great grandchildren, Olive Jessee and Gideon Jessee; sisters, Lois Cox and husband, Fred of Annandale, Virginia, Mary Gardner and husband, Roby of Johnson City, TN, Carolyn Snow and husband, Doug of Hillsville, Virginia and Peggy Hatley and husband, Larry of Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law, John Moneyhun of Kingsport and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Charity Akers, Mountain States Hospice, and to Mr. Keith's Sunday School Class for their extraordinary care and commitment. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm Monday, April 29, 2013 at Colonial Heights Baptist Church, 106 Colonial Heights Rd., Kingsport, TN. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm at Colonial Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Burton officiating. A Eulogy will be given by his granddaughter, Hannah Jessee. Music will be provided by Arvey Mason, Marty Taylor and Allen Bowling. A graveside service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Baptist Church Family Life Center, 106 Colonial Heights Rd., Kingsport, TN 37663.
