Obituary of Mattie Feathers

Mattie Sells Feathers, 93, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening, April 18, 2013 at Wexford House after a long illness. She was born in Hiltons, Virginia, was a former residence of West Palm Beach, Florida and had lived in Kingsport for the past fifteen years. Mrs. Feathers retired as a hotel manager in West Palm Beach after thirty years of service. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurl Feathers; a son, Wayne Earl Sells; parents, Ed and Pearl Barker Dowell; sisters, Lannie Stallard and Nealie Cox; brothers, George Edward "Jimmy" Dowell and Delaney Dowell. Surviving are her son John E. Sells and wife, Brenda of Bluff City; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Sells, David Sells and Kimberly Pilkenton; three great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister, Glenna Brown of Kingsport and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, TN with Pastor Don McCann officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association - TN, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
