Obituary of Smith Collins

Eliza "Sis" Smith Collins, age 102, of Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning (January 18, 2015) at Nova Health and Rehab in Weber City, Va. She was a life-long resident of Scott County, VA. She was a homemaker and had lived on Copper Creek since her marriage to Paul David Collins on July 1st of 1955. They were married in the home of preacher James Boatright. She was an active member of Copper Creek Community Church with her husband, Paul always by his side until he passed in 1989. Sis was the 7th child of the late Henry and Laura Williams Smith having grown up in a good home "On the road to Manville". She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters and 6 brothers; Mert Smith Newton, Dora Smith Johnson Salling, Charlie Smith, Wright Smith, John Smith, Clarence Smith and Eugene Smith. She spent the last 15 years at Clinch View Manor apartments; thanking the Lord daily for its blessings. She especially loved Monday night bible class with Elder Pat Davis, Jr. and spending time with her friends which are too numerous to name. They have cooked for her, laughed with her, and cried with her, and filled many days with good company. Surviving are her are 1 step-daughter, Haven Collins Hobbs of Church Hill, TN; many precious nieces, nephews and several loving step-grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Nova Health Care and the loving staff for their wonderful care during her 9 month stay. There will be a graveside service at 3:00pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery with Rev. Paul Blessing and Elder Pat Davis Jr. officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:55 p.m. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is honored to serve the Collins family.
