Obituary of Paul Junior Vaughn

Paul Junior Vaughn, 85, of Kingsport died peacefully at his home Monday December 22, 2014. He was born in Scott County, VA and lived in Kingsport all of his life. He worked at General Shale Corp. for over 35 years-- retiring in 1991. He loved to travel when his health permitted. He was a story teller—and loved telling old stories from his youth. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Freedom Baptist Church in Church Hill, TN. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clyde and Cosby Vaughn, his siblings: Bessie, Lowanda, Reesor, Ray, Curtis and Bobby. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 ½ years Thelma Vaughn of the home; daughter, Shirley Malone, Kingsport, son, Sherman Vaughn and wife, Sharon, Kingsport; Grandchildren, Cindy Hicks, Missy Layne, Jason Carpenter, and Travis Vaughn; 11 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great- Great Grandchild; one sister, Betty Barr; brothers, Jim Vaughn, Gerald Vaughn, Sherrill Vaughn, and Bill Vaughn, along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Friday, December 26, 2014 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport with funeral services at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Pallbearers are Travis Vaughn, Eric Layne, Jason Carpenter, Lyle Vaughn, Jack Manis, Don Martin. Honorary Pallbearers are Alex Layne, Brandon Carpenter, Jeremy Vaughn. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2015 at East Lawn Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12 noon to go in procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the family of Paul Junior Vaughn.
