Obituary of Billy Lee Ramsey

Billy Lee Ramsey, 82, of Kingsport passed away on December 18, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Crossnore, NC and had lived in Kingsport since 1954. Billy served in the U.S. Navy during Korean Conflict. He was a Shriner 32 degree 50 year member at Jericho Temple. Billy was retired from Holliston Mills Corp. after over 34 years of service. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Gladys Chess Ramsey; parents, Fred and Anna Lee Griffin Ramsey. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Robin Chess Wolfe of Kingsport and Helen Chess Bailey and husband Curtis of Mesa, AZ; brother-in-law, Tony Chess and wife Brenda, of Church Hill; along with several cousins. The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carroll Manis officiating. Music will be provided by Jerry Taylor. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Ramsey family.
