Obituary of Jonathan Taylor Dykes

Jonathan Taylor Dykes, 28, of Church Hill, went to be with his Lord on December 13, 2014. He lived a full active life and was loved by all who knew him. He loved volunteering for the Carter's Valley Fire Department for many years. He graduated from Volunteer High School and received his degree in welding from Tennessee Tech in Surgoinsville. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Eugene and Grace Taylor; paternal grandmother, Delores Dykes; step father, Jerry Freeman Sr; nephew, Gavin Arnold and very special friend, Brodie Greer. Jonathan is survived by his mother, Audrey Joan Taylor, of the home; father, Perry Dykes and wife Sheila; grandfather, Hansel Dykes, Kpt; brother, Aaron Hartsock; step brothers, Jeff Hurd and Jerry Freeman Jr; step sisters, Lisa Wells, Kim Summers, Kristie Arnold and Kathy Bledsoe; special niece, Zoe Hartsock; along with aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special friends, Raymond Bingham, Scottie Smith, Casey Huckaby. Thanks to his special aunt and uncles, Ural and Betty Ward and Larry Taylor. Also many thanks to a very special friend, Wendy Huckaby, who loved to share hunting, fishing, and camping with him. The family will receive friends from 11 till 1pm Wednesday (December 17th, 2014) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. Friends are welcome to come by the funeral home on Tuesday to pay their respects between 9 and 4pm as well as on Wednesday or anytime at the home of his father or mother. A service will follow at 1pm Wednesday with Rev. Clarence Webb and Rev. Bill Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. John "Papaw" Harr will be an honorary pallbearer. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Dykes family.
