Obituary of Imogene Bailey

Kingsport - Imogene J. "Jean" Bailey, 83 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Indian Path Medical Center following a long illness. She was a resident of Sullivan County and had lived in Hawkins County as well. She attended Ross Campground School, Church Hill High School and graduated from Whitney Business College. Jean was retired from Eastman Kodak and was a member of National Association of Legal Secretaries for 10 years. She worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Clyde Tootle, attorney at law. She was preceded in death by her parents, W "Clay" Jones and Grace Jones; husband, John Franklin Bailey; son, Randall Eugene Bailey; sisters, Lennis Jones Meade; brother, Oliver Glenn Jones; loving companion, Clyde Tootle. Survivors include her son, John F. Bailey; nieces, Terry Turner and husband Jeff and Kimberly Prater and husband Henry, with whom she resided. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. A committal service will follow at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Mausoleum with Rev. Ron Lowe officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Teresa Cress and Rita Perry and to the 5th floor nurses at Indian Path. Also, a special thanks to Charleen and Hugh Wines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 207 North Boone Street, Suite 1500, Johnson City, TN 37604.
