Obituary of Sharon Rhea Simpson

Sharon Rhea Carter Simpson, 64 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord after a long and faithful life to her Lord and Savior. Born in Kingsport, Sharon had lived in Church Hill. She was an ordained minister of the Holiness faith and enjoyed teaching the Bible, ministering to others, gardening, and traveling. She found great joy in helping others, especially the senior citizens she met in her line of work and her door was always open for religious thoughts and refreshments. She was retired from Kingsport Housing Authority following 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Carter and brother, Stanley Carter. Sharon is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jackie Simpson; mother, AnnaBell Carter; sister, Carolyn Bowman and husband Larry; niece/sister, Tammy Gilreath; special friend and puppy, Ripcord; several nieces and nephews, including Amy Peters and husband David, special friends, Fonda Mowdy, Dr. Amylyn Crawford, Shanna Gaither, PA and Dr. Strickland. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Mowdy and Rev. Roy Brickey officiating. Burial will follow in Church Hill Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Donnie Houseright, Ivan Smith, Dennis Smith, Jeff Gilreath, Tim Gilreath and Benny Osborne. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Simpson family.
