Obituary of Wilma Bernice Cox
Wilma (Bernice) Cox, age 83, of Surgoinsville, entered into eternal rest, on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport. She was a long time member of Jenkins Chapel Primitive Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer and clerk for many years. She was a retiree of Walmart on Stone Drive in Kingsport. Bernice found much joy in tending to flowers and gardening. She was a loving and devoted wife of 53 years, mother, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Cox; and parents, Joe and Vivian Blair.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Rickey Cox and wife, Jen, of Kingsport; and Dr. David Cox and wife, Penny, of LaVale, MD; grandchildren, Brandon Cox and wife, Gay Burton-Cox, Andrew Cox, Alex Cox, and Mary Cox; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends including the staff and residents of The Village at Allandale.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Fred Gilreath and Dr. Randy Pressnell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Jenkins Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the activities fund at The Village at Allandale located at 200 Strickland Court Kingsport, TN 37660.
