Obituary of William Pendleton

Kingsport - William (Jack) Pendleton, 80 of Kingsport went peacefully to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, September 22, 2014 in his favorite recliner at home. He was born in Manville, VA and had resided in Kingsport the majority of his life. He attended Lynn View High School. Jack was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army. He worked many years in construction for several different companies. Jack loved to shoot guns and was an avid gun collector. He belonged and helped build the Wilderness Gun Club. He also loved to work with wood and truly was gifted in woodworking. He attended Preaching Christ Church when his health allowed him to do so. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom and Margaret Pendleton. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Betty J. Pendleton; four children, Michael Pendleton, Tracy Pendleton & wife Cindy, Steve Pendleton & wife Melanie, Tanita Craddock & husband Michael; seven grandchildren, Eric, Travis, Danielle, Stevie, Jennifer, Corey, and Cole; nine great grandchildren; and his sister, Charlotte Gillenwater; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2014 at the Preaching Christ Church, 707 E. Sullivan Street, Kingsport, TN. A celebration of his life will follow at 4 pm in the church. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Pendleton family.
