Obituary of Ellery H. Harvey

Ellery Harvey, of Kingsport, completed his journey here and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Holston Manor Nursing Home in Kingsport. He was a proud member and former church treasurer of Southview Community Church of the Nazarene, formerly known as First Church of the Nazarene in Kingsport. He was passionate about gardening and being outdoors. Ellery held strong to his faith in the Lord and made that his first priority in life. In addition, he loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Jenny) Harvey; parents, Leon and Zella Harvey; and sister, Ann Reynolds. He is survived by his daughter, Joretta Morgan (Rusty); son, Greg Harvey (Abby); step-daughter, Glenda Smith (Richard); grandchildren, Chris Harvey, Brittany Morgan, Eric Whitehead and Sarah Booher; sister, Leota Underwood (Wayne) of Portland, OR; brother, Dan Harvey (Mary) of Yakima, WA; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Holston Manor and especially nurses, Shelly Watson and Deb Goins. In lieu of flowers and food memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimers Association at 207 N Boone St, Johnson City, TN 37604. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Rev. Leroy Davis officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at TriCities Memory Gardens in Blountville.
