Obituary of Elizabeth Simmons Templeton

Elizabeth Simmons Templeton, 98, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at Graystone Healthcare, Blountville, TN. She moved to Blountville from McMinnville, Tennessee in 1994 to be closer to her family and had resided at Greystone Healthcare Center since 2004. Elizabeth was born in Spencer, Tennessee on March 7, 1916 and was the only daughter of Charles Evans Simmons and Mamie Elizabeth Baker Simmons. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star. Elizabeth was a 1934 graduate of Burritt College, Spencer, Tennessee and retired from City Bank & Trust Company, McMinnville. Tennessee. Aunt Sizzie, as she was affectionately called by her nieces, had the gift of hospitality and no one ever left her house without being offered a home cooked meal. She loved music and taught herself to play the guitar and piano. Many family gatherings involved singing and playing hymns. Family and friends were important to her and she cherished each one of them. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Leslie Templeton, and brothers, Charles Benjamin Simmons and James Leonard Simmons. Left to cherish her memory are her nieces, Yvonne Simmons (Ed) Snapp, Kingsport; Beverly Simmons (Scott) Overbey, Gray; and Roslyn Simmons (Kenny) Justice, Blountville, Tennessee; two grand nephews, Jim Overbey and Andrew Snapp (Jamie) and one grand niece, Rebecca Overbey (Casey) Fink; five great-grand nephews and one great- grand niece. A memorial services will be at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, Tennessee with Kenny Justice, officiating . Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Molloy Cemetery, Spencer, Tennessee with Gene Brock, officiating.
