Obituary of Georgia Neawanna McGee

Georgia Neawanna McGee, 81, of the Yuma community, passed away Tuesday August 19th, 2014 at Wexford House. A graduate of Cleveland High School, she was proud of the fact that she played basketball during that era. Georgia was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, who also was very creative with crafts and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Cecil McGee; daughter, Neawanna Rogers and her parents, Auburn Jasper Tate and Mary Orpha Grimm Tate She is survived by her son in law, Ralph Rogers, of Yuma and granddaughter, Melissa Birdwell and husband Craig, of Gray and great grandsons, Braeden and Ryan Birdwell along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 till 7pm Friday (August 22, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home or anytime at the home of her son in law, Ralph Rogers. A service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Brad Stapleton officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir and the Tate family. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Saturday at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the men of the church. Those who plan to attend the graveside are asked to join the family in procession by meeting at the funeral home at 10:15. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Prospect United Methodist Church 161 Prospect Church Road Gate City, VA 24251 Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the McGee family.
