Obituary of Sam Jones

James H. "Sam" Jones, 73, of Duffield, passed away (July 10th, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He proudly served for two years in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Lydia Frazier Jones; two brothers, Willie and Claude Jones; one sister, Lucille "Susie" Jones; one grandchild, Jesse D. Jones He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie Jones; two sons, James Lee Jones and David Jones and wife Penny; two daughters, Brenda Stanley and husband Tommy, Kristie Quillen and husband Joe; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren The family will receive friends from 5 till 8pm Saturday (July 12th, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 2pm Sunday (July 13th, 2014) in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Kevin Vincent, Bro. Cecil Kern and Bro. Buddy Osborne officiating. The Durham Chapel Singers will provide music. Burial will follow in the Horton Summit Cemetery in Duffield. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Jones family.
