Obituary of Joe Alexander Moore

Joe Alexander Moore, 82, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday June 15, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Joe was born August 26, 1931 in Kingsport and was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and Steed College. He spent 8 years in the Army, serving in the Korean War and later in Germany. He worked in the printing industry, retiring from Southeastern Color Graphics. Joe was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church and he belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Lola Moore; brothers, Johnnie and Bob. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Ann Rowland Moore of Kingsport; daughter, Susan Moore Clark of Kingsport; grandchildren, Alex Clark of Appleton, WI and Blair Clark Hicks and her husband, Jason Hicks of Green Bay, WI; great granddaughter, Isabelle Rae Hicks of Green Bay, WI; brothers, Kyle Moore of Kingsport, Ray Moore of Kingsport, and Kenneth Moore of San Francisco, CA; along with many nieces and nephews, including a caregiver David Kyle Moore. A military graveside rites presented by the American Legion Post # 3 / # 265 will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport with Pastor Randy Lantz officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church, 200 Bays Cove Trail, Kingsport, TN 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Moore family.
