Obituary of Bernard W. Horne

Bernard W. Horne, 82, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday night (June 15, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Bernard loved spending time with his family and working in his yard and garden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Horne; sisters, Jewell Hughes and Lou Bailey. He is survived by his son, Bryan Horne; grandson, Logan Horne; granddaughter, Kelly Horne; sister, Helen Maddox; very special friend, Ida Harr; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grover Starnes and Rev. Ronnie Horne officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Gunning's Cemetery, Blountville, TN. Pallbearers will be Johnny Booher, Clarence "Bud" Rodefer, Tim Harr, Wayne Harr and Lee Roy Pope, Jr. and Roger Poore. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Keys, Don Payne and Page Adams. In lieu of flowers memorials are asked to be made to the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation, (http://etkidney.org/) Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Horne family.
