Obituary of Dorothy Lane Bowman

Dorothy Lane Bowman Kingsport - Dorothy Lane Bowman, 84, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 21, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Kingsport, she lived most of her life in California and had lived in Kingsport for the past 17 years. Mrs. Bowman was a member of Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother and enjoyed going to church and shopping. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friends at Friendship Manor. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald E. Johnson; her second husband, Norman Bowman; parents Grover Cleveland and Elizabeth Olinger Lane; sisters, Maggie Estel Lane, Mattie Sauer, Pearl Chaco and Martha Martin and a brother, Curtis Lane. Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Marshall and husband, Junior; granddaughters, Gina Bledsoe and Cindy Bledsoe; great grandchildren, Eli, Blair, Noel and Brooke; nieces, Linda Rhea Wright, Penny Thompson, Tammy Elizabeth Hapler and Shirley Ruth Smith and a nephew, Bobby Lane. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport, TN. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Everette Lett and Assistant Pastor Tim Lovell officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm. Carter-Trent Funeral Home is serving the Dorothy Bowman family.
