Obituary of Master Sgt. Terry M. Duncan

Master Sgt.Terry M. Duncan, 48, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma where he was visiting. He attended Sullivan South High School and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1984. Terry served 20 years in the US Army, completing Ranger Training, retiring as a Master Sargent and most recently worked as a recruiter. He was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church and attended Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church. Terry was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Marie Collins and his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Delphia Duncan. Surviving are his daughters, Heather Duncan of Maryville and Tarani Duncan of New Orleans, Louisiana; parents, Freida and Bill Wimbish of Kingsport; father, Gerald Duncan of Blountville; sister, Michelle Ketron and husband, Brad of Kingsport and several aunts, uncles cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St.. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe W. Byrd and Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Music will be provided by Danny and Tracy Strickler. Military graveside rites will be conducted at 1pm Thursday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens, Blountville, TN, by the American Legion Post 3/265. Pallbearers will be Tarani Duncan, Bill Wimbish, Ben Collins, Brad Ketron, Aaron Moore and Michael Steele. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Stills, Ken Dugger, Ellis Smith and Ned Moore.
