Obituary of Sybil K. Quillen

SYBIL K. QUILLEN Gate City- Sybil K. Hilton Quillen, 95, of Gate City, passed away late Thursday night (April 10, 20141) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medic al Center following a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Scott County. Sybil worked several years at P.H. Nickels Store along with being a homemaker. Mrs. Quillen was a member of First Baptist Church of Gate City where she was recently recognized for being the oldest living member of the church. She loved to grow flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen M. Quillen; parents, E. F. and Grace Burke Hilton; a sister, Geneva Jennings. Sybil Quillen is survived by her son, Dr. Frank W. Quillen; a brother, Fred A. Hilton; her nieces, Janice McQueen, Judith Everhart, and Carolyn Freeland; her nephews, Jim Jennings and Larry Hilton. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gate City. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday (April 15, 2014) at 7 p.m. at the church with Rev. Andy Barnes and Rev. Jeff DeBoard, officiating. Music will be provided by Dennis Fritz. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery.
