Obituary of Everette Walters

Everette Walters Surgoinsville, TN - Hugh Everette Walters, 89, born May 25, 1924, in Stanley Valley, passed away early Saturday, March 1, 2014 at his residence in Stanley Valley, Surgoinsville, TN with his sons by his side. Everette was a lifelong member of the Okolona United Methodist Church and was an avid farmer. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 47 years, Evelyn Inez Anderson Walters (1996); father, Hugh Jones Walters (1934); mother, Phoebe Jane Martin Walters (1984); son, Rudy Edmond Walters (1999); daughter, Rhonda Jean Walters (1959); brother, E J Walters, Sr. (2001) and his wife Ruby (2009); brother in law, Ralph Snapp (1997). He is survived by his pet cat and companion Miss Kitty; his son and care giver, Emory Preston Walters; sons and daughters-in-law, Lowell Allen and Fredda (Short) Walters and Everette Glenn and Paula (Carr Smith) Walters; daughter-in-law, Cathy Loraine Phillips Walters; grandchildren, Bridget Renee Walters Kelly and husband (Pat) Kelly, Rudy Matthew Walters and wife Shannon, Mary Elizabeth Walters Caldwell and husband (Stephen) Caldwell, Esther Rebecca Walters, Martha Kay Walters, Phillip Edmond Walters and wife Star, Debrah Loraine Walters, Christy Denison Miller and husband (Tim) Miller, Jeffery Allen Walters and wife Rose, Joseph Aaron Walters and wife Judy, James Justin Smith, Brandi Noel Smith, Jenna Grace Smith; great grandchildren, Isaiah David Caldwell, Samuel Luke Caldwell, Rebecca Grace Caldwell, John Walter Caldwell, Rudy Michael Walters, Noah Elijah Walters, Logan Allen Bebber, Samantha Jenee Walters and Caleb Allen Walters; sisters, Edna M. Walters Snapp and Mary K Walters (Jim) Rhoten; along with several nieces and nephews; special friend, Earl Matlock. The family will receive friends anytime at the residence and from 12 noon to 2 pm, Wednesday March 5, 2014 at Okolona United Methodist Church in Stanley Valley. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm with Rev. Jody Davidson, Rev. Grover Starnes and Pastor Rick Vannoy officiating. Music will be provided by the Phillips family. Burial will follow at Walters Family Cemetery in Stanley Valley. Pallbearers will be Matt Walters, Jeff Walters, Joe Walters, Steve Caldwell, Stanley Snapp and Danny Snapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Chester Culbertson and Harvey LaFollette. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Walters family.
