Obituary of Viva Jane Ritter

Viva Jane (Shaw) Ritter, age 96 of Attalla, Alabama, formerly of Kingsport went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 3, 2014 at Gadsden Healthcare, Gadsden, Alabama. Viva was of the Baptist faith. She was the daughter of the late, Lucian and Della Shaw. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her three sons, Howard, Roy and Ralph Finley. She is survived by six grandchildren: Neil (Deborah) Finley of Alpine, Alabama, Rhonda (Tim) Meeks of Altoona, Alabama, Michael (Shauna) Finley of Steele, Alabama, Dan (Lola) Finley of West Covina, California, Stephanie Spurgeon and Eric Finley, both of St. Petersburg, Florida; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Neely and Hazel Roberts; one brother, Glenn Shaw, all of Kingsport; two step-daughters, Jackie Armstrong and Judy Strazzi along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kignsport. with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before service. Private burial will be at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Virginia. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Ritter family.
